Community Need Referral Services

This program is aimed to help those who need it acquire food, clothing, housing, and WiC. If you or someone you know are in need of a service like this, please don't hesitate to reach out using the form below.

Circle of Health Cancer Survivor Program

This program is a cancer survivor support group of individuals who meet once a month to support, encourage, inspire and provide information regarding the challenges of either surviving or living with cancer.  Light refreshments are served.

Empower Youth Entrepreneur Program

This program is aimed at the youth between the ages of 15 and 18. This program aims to educate the youth on business building opportunities—allowing them to start early. Toward the end of the program, graduates receive a $500 stipend for starting their own business. For more information, please don't hesitate to reach out and check out our flyer here.

Mattie Berry Education and Career Development Program

​This is a program where we invite interns, externs, master students and professionals to train at the center. They complete preceptorships, practicums and more.  Trainings are managed by doctors and other licensed healthcare professionals.

Living Life Forward Senior Citizen Program

This program is a senior citizen support group where seniors come together to enjoy one another's company, host events, enjoy catered lunch, and do other creative things.

Warm Coats Distribution Program

The warm coat campaign offers warm coats, hats and scarves to the community that are donated by our health center partners such as Shop Rite, Burlington Coat Factory, Proctor and Gamble, Nabisco, NJ State Office of Faith Based Initiatives, 4 His Glory Ministries, and others.

Centering Pregnancy

Partnered with the State of New Jersey Office of Faith-Based Initiatives and Centering Healthcare Institute, this service aims to reduce the preterm birthrates by helping expecting mothers through interventions and classes. Hannah's House Summer Program

This program is a youth program for youth of all ages.  They interact, explore exciting projects and initiatives and just have fun!  Light refreshments are served.  Culminated with an award ceremony.

Internships, Externships, Community Service, and Volunteer Opportunities

Here at Bessie Mae Women and Family Health Center, we offer many opportunities for internships, community service, etc. For those with any questions or interest in this program, please don't hesitate to use the form below to reach out and get more information.

Business Consultations

This service is offered by our very own Dr. Esney Sharpe to help in your business ventures. It offers consultation on your perspective or already started business. For more information, click here.

Transportation Services

Partnered with Samuel Transportation Service, we offer private courier services to clients. This can range from school drop off and pickup to transport to and from medical appointments for the elderly. For more information, click here.

Food Insecurities Program

This campaign is where we provide food distribution through home deliveries, holiday food baskets and boxes in concert with our partnership:  MEND, Inc., the City of East Orange, Department of Agriculture, churches and other local businesses.

Holiday Campaigns

This campaign is an annual event where we provide toys for children and food distribution to the community and our patients.  Thanks to our partners:  City of Orange Police Department, City of East Orange Mayors Office, The Angel Project, County of Essex Commissioners Office and more.
